History of Hollow fibres

The first polyester fibres were solid.

It was while studying the bio-rhythms of the caribou that researchers came up with the idea of a hollow fibre. They worked unstintingly to improve and discover increasingly efficient new fibres and found that the hair of this animal, with its particular ability to withstand the very cold weather, was hollow: millions of tiny air pockets helped to create a screen against the cold and regulate the animal’s internal temperature according to the season.

The researchers then applied their discovery to the fibres in order to provide more warmth, suppleness and improved air circulation.

Today, all the Dacron® Comfort Fibres that fill your duvets and pillows are hollow : The more air they contain, the more you are insulated against the cold.
